Mount Washington Alpine Resort is one of the great resort located on Vancouver Island near Courtenay. This is the island’s largest year-round family resort with snowfall averaging 38 feet (11.6 meters) annually. With 81 runs and a 1,657-foot (505-meter) vertical drop, it offers a coastal alpine experience with ski-to-surf views of the Pacific Ocean. Also, you can enjoy the view of Strathcona Provincial Park.
What make Washington Alpine special?
The resort has been established in 1979 as BC’s first master-planned resort. With skiing and snowboarding support, it features one of North America’s top-rated Nordic centers (55 km of trails), a tube park, snowshoeing, and summer activities like a 2.3-km ZipTour, mountain biking, and hiking. Furthermore, there are 5 terrain parks (Rockstar, Easy Acres, Northlands, Young Gun, Mushroom). The Longest run should be Linton’s Loop (1.9 km). For night skiing, there are 12 runs.

How to get to the Washington resort?
The address of the Washington resort is at 1280 Alpine Way, Comox, BC, Canada, British Columbia. You can drive from Nanaimo for around 2 hours (134km) north on Highway 19 to Courtenay, then Strathcona Parkway. There are also Resort ski bus from Courtenay (~CAD 10–20, book via
mountwashington.ca) runs daily in winter. There should be stops at Comox and Courtenay hotels. If you come outside BC, you may consider fly into Comox Valley Airport (YQQ, 35 km away) via Air Canada or WestJet. And then rent a car (~CAD 50–120/day) and drive 30–40 minutes. Campbell River Airport (YBL, 50 km) is an alternative, it take around 45 minutes.
